1943 is set off of the Midway Atoll in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Your goal is to initiate an attack on the Japanese Air Force and defeat as many of them as you can, ultimately battling an aircraft carrier at the end of the level. The game is over when the aircrafts energy is depleted.
If you destroy all of a formation of red enemy planes you will recieve a power up that will help to give you more energy and give you weapon upgrades. Introduced by Capcom in 1987.
